La autocrítica

La autocrítica es esa voz interior que nos critica y nos señala con el dedo con juicio cada vez que cometemos un error.

Todos tenemos esta voz interiorizada, pero algunos la tienen más fuerte y rígida que otros.

La autocrítica en una determinada dosis es positiva, ya que nos ayuda a valorar y cambiar comportamientos según las situaciones que nos requieran, es decir, a aprender de los errores.

Pero cuando es demasiado severo y cruel, los efectos pueden ser dañinos, generando culpa y rumiación mental.

La alta autocrítica está relacionada con varios trastornos psicológicos como la depresión, la ansiedad, los trastornos alimentarios y el trastorno obsesivo compulsivo.

Generalmente, aquellos que son muy estrictos consigo mismos también proyectan hacia afuera y terminan siendo muy críticos y estrictos con los demás, lo que dificulta establecer relaciones más saludables.

Puede manifestarse con eventos del pasado: ¿Por qué dije esto? ¿Por qué hice eso? Qué estúpido, qué tonto, no debería haber sido así …
O en el futuro: no lo lograré, ni siquiera lo intentaré porque ya sé que voy a fallar, no tengo la inteligencia suficiente para eso, perderé seguro, no me van a aprobar…

Podrías pensar que gastar mucha energía mental castigándote, maldiciéndote, menospreciándote evitará errores en el futuro. Cuando en realidad es todo lo contrario. Las personas autocríticas sufren más de estrés, procrastinación, baja autoestima y no actúan, paralizan, temen todo y se aíslan cada vez más.

Piensa: ¿le hablarías a un niño con el mismo tono exigente con el que te hablas a ti mismo? ¿Cuáles son los efectos de este tono en las emociones del niño?

No es posible eliminar la voz de la autocrítica, pero es posible negociar con ella y suavizar el tono.

El antídoto: la autocompasión. Una forma más generosa de lidiar con nuestros fracasos y limitaciones. Aceptar nuestras imperfecciones nos ayuda a actuar y correr riesgos, sin tanto miedo al error y al juicio.
